BRIEF HISTORY:
Bungoma Diocese is in Western Province of Kenya. Bungoma town was established as a trading centre in the early 20th Century. The town is the headquarters of Kenya’s Bungoma district. The Diocese of Bungoma was split from Kakamega diocese on April 27, 1987. It is in Western Kenya covering four Districts: Busia, Bungoma, Mt Elgon and Teso. The total area of the diocese is 4,840 square kilometers. The predecessor, the late Longinus Atundo died in November 15, 1996. Bishop Norman King’oo took over after one year and seven months.
