The Catholic Church in Kenya is determined more than ever in Her God given mandate of reaching out to all God’s people. This is done by agents of evangelization guided by the word of God and the Social Teaching of the Church. To enhance co-ordination of the activities in evangelization, the Kenya Episcopal Conference has put in place the Commission for Pastoral and Lay Apostolate.
VISION:
The Commission for Pastoral and Lay Apostolate envisions a world in which the people of God have the capacity to evangelise and bring God’s Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.
MISSION:
To make the Word of God available and relevant to all. This will be our core contribution to KEC’S mission “ You shall be my witnesses.”
The Commission cherishes professionalism in its coordination, advocacy, lobbying and capacity building roles. This is done in close collaboration with its targets, beneficiaries and stakeholders using participatory approaches.
The following are the general goals for the Commission:
1. To facilitate effective co-ordination of National and Diocesan Pastoral Programmes.
2. To enhance capacity building for agents of Evangelisation at different levels.
3. To enhance resource mobilization skills of Diocesan and Parish leaders.
4. To address Pastoral dimension of all KEC Commissions.
5. To enhance collaboration and networking relationships at Diocesan, National and International levels.
