Mission statement
In accordance with the healing mission of Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church, the Commission for Health and the Catholic Health Facilities in Kenya will work towards the provision and promotion of quality curative, preventive, rehabilitative and sustainable health services to all and in accordance with acceptable standards as envisioned by the Ministry of Health for the people of Kenya, particularly the underprivileged. This will be our core contribution to KEC’s Mission ‘YOU SHALL BE MY WITNESSES’ Acts 1:8.
Background
The Catholic Health Commission of Kenya KEC) was established in 1957 to provide oversight, advocacy, lobbying and representation for an expansive network of Catholic Health facilities consisting of 445 health units. In addition, the Commission coordinates 13 Nurse Training Colleges and 1 Clinical Medicine College. More than 46 Community Based Health Programs and OVC Programs are coordinated by the Catholic Church. The Commission acts as the link between the health facilities and the Ministries of Health (MOMS; MOPHS) as well as other NGOs and partners in Health Care provision.
